What type of martial arts instruction is provided? W.F.C. instructs students in mixed martial arts. Mixed martial arts is an eclectic system of Jujitsu, karate and kickboxing. Each student receives fundamental training to improve or increase self-defense and physical fitness levels. Various methods of training include games and activities that improve listening skills, awareness and social skills.
What are days and hours of camp? Camp is Monday –Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. What is drop off and pick up times? Early drop-off is 7:30 a.m. if requested (all campers should arrive before 9:00 a.m.); pick-up is 6:00 p.m. Students attending summer school are welcome (slots are limited).
What should campers bring to summer camp? Camper should bring lunch, snacks, school vacation package and reading material. A camp uniform and T-shirt are provided and should be worn daily. Students can not bring toys, electronic games, MP3 players, I-pods or other devices.
What is the counselor/camper ratio? Ratio during the summer is 1:6 or lower.
What is tuition? $135.00 per week includes any transportation and admission cost for field trips. Daily rate is $40.00. Is there an enrollment fee? Yes, enrollment fee is $50.00 covers cost of camp uniform, T-shirt and any administrative costs.
What makes your martial arts camp different from others? W.F.C. provides a low staff to camper ratio, convenient drop-off and pick-up times. We work with parents to provide a unique environment with diversity, structure, and a variety of adventures with old fashioned group-centered games, physical and sports activities. The goal is to build the confidence, self respect and self discipline of each child.
What about field trips? Summer is incomplete without spending time outside! There are daily visits to parks that provide students with team sports, environmental instruction (e.g., fishing, canoeing) and hiking. A field trip is held at the end of the week to various locations throughout Connecticut. There is no cost for admission or transportation (included in weekly fee) for field trips.
Can I decide how many sessions a child can attend? A minimum of two (2) weeks are allowed. It is easier for campers to make friends, learn martial arts and feel a part of a camp group. Are there discounts? Discounts are available for siblings and payments in advance (5%).
Do you accept Care4Kids? Care4Kids is accepted. Parents are responsible for enrollment fee and first week tuition.
Is breakfast or lunch provided? No meals are provided. Parents should send lunch and two (2) snacks. Snacks can be purchased at a minimal cost of .50¢.
What is registration deadline? There is no deadline. The applications are accepted on a first come-first serve basis. To reserve spot, application should be submitted as soon as possible. Applications will only be accepted for 30 campers.
Can parents observe or stay at the camp? Parents are always welcomed. W.F.C. asks that parents do not interfere with instructions or coaching by camp staff.
What ages are accepted? Campers are from age 5 – 12. Is the camp co-ed? The camp is co-ed.
What is refund policy? If paid at time of application submission, enrollment and first week holds a camper’s slot. The first week and enrollment are refundable up to two (2) months prior to the session. After these dates, tuition will be 50% refundable only if cancellation is due to documented illness or a family emergency.
